A bunch of songs written with, around and inspired by ghosts. Sometimes not much happens. In fact, most of the time but somehow these songs were born in and around haunted locations. New album, The Art of Owning it now on Spotify.
Our Punk Monk song is reimagined with a blues and jazz feel in preparation for the Steampunk Festival in Dimboola. Featuring original footage from the film clip, this version cruises. Recorded live in Daylesford on March 30, 2025. Enjoy.
A song about another dimension. Inspired by walks in the woods and research into the healing benefits of mushrooms turning unhappy people into fun guy people. Open your third eye to the power of fungi funguy enjoy life but never lick frogs! Advice from a ghost ;)
A song written from a story of a racing car driver in the 1920's being decapitated in a freak driving accident thus creating the Ghost Driver. He doesn't care about his head; he doesn't care if the traffic lights are red.
A song written on another paranormal adventure. Maybe some ghosts gave us a hand with our sixth sense creating this ethereal tune. Sometimes you just gotta have a sixth sense to talk to the other side. Video shot in the 3km of underground cellars at Seppelt winery in Great Western. Said to be haunted by a few ghosts. Sixth Sense. A song by Ghost Owned.
Originally, we wrote this for the Maryvale Murder story, but it slowly morphed into a protection song. We are never truly alone and sometimes you just got to acknowledge your guardian. The clip was recorded in the Great Western cellars with a couple of ghosts and features footage from our investigations over the last seven years. Enjoy Guardian, now also on all music streaming platforms. A Ghost Owned song.
On August 5, 2023, Ghost Owned played in the haunted Kangaroo Hotel in Maldon as part of the Goldfields Gothic Festival. This was the first time playing to a live audience. We were banned from playing a couple of controversial songs including Succubus and BFN but you can still hear these on our SoundCloud link. Enjoy this live performance caught on GoPro and mobile. Sound quality could be better but so could of the rider!
Most people driving on the Princess Highway east of Darnum have no knowledge of the area known as Dead Man's Gully. A single grave tucked down an embankment has been there since 1877. We did an investigation with evidence suggesting that the grave was empty (no we didn't dig!). The name Carla came up on the Spirit Box along with the word zombie. So we had a love story to tell by song.
Another song written under the influence of ghosts. A song about just throwing it all away and becoming a futurist mystic. Written by the Paranormal Investigator Star Search team. Recorded at the Great Stupa in Bendigo and on Welshmans Reef in the middle of BF nowhere. Enjoy.
Shot in an abandoned mental asylum in both daylight and darkness, this track turned out to be a crowd favourite for the many ghosts watching. Tourette's of the Soul is all about the spiral of change and a certain denial of one's trajectory. Complete with straight jacket and a visit to the morgue fridge, nothing changes until you do. A song born out of the bad language we encounter on many investigations.
A paranormal adventure is never complete without writing a song inspired by everything around us. This song just burst through. It really is the best life. Recorded in SA and filmed at Portland Lighthouse in a rough and ready mix with Keith wrapping some best life words and Paul playing some crappy lead. The worst lip-syncing but we love it. Enjoy.
A song we wrote with a few ghosts in 2019 about a ghost train. We recorded this in regional Victoria in a creepy motel room in the middle of BF nowhere. All the footage is of us on a train, driving a train, collecting tickets....then a little bit of ectoplasm and a lotta fun in an old homestead. Get on the train.
Thanks Puffing Billy and Walhalla railway for your good spirits.
This song is about relationships and people that have passed and are gone but never forgotten. Inspired in a cemetery with headstones, names and a spirit box. This song is supported by Jeff Woodward on lead guitar. Thanks Jeff! Really gave it some heavenly vibes at the end.
The clip was shot in Kapunda and Robe cemetery in South Australia. Enjoy Gone.
A song written by Ghost Owned. Snowboarding was inspired by a friend's near-death experience. Some nice footage from Mt Buller and beyond. Enjoy snowboarding.
A song written from an encounter with an angry spirit. An entity that wanted to wreak havoc on any intruders. Plenty of swear words and we did our best to pacify through raising the vibrations and writing a song about understanding depression and rage and taking it to a happier place.
A Ghost Owned song above moving on....
Ghost Owned is the song writing duo of Paul Matthews and Keith Greenwell. As part-time paranormal investigators, they travel to haunted locations and try to write songs with ghosts. Usually something happens. Whether it’s the ghosts or inspiration, who knows. A mix of folk, indie, alternative and rock fused with lyrics that are sometimes deep, sometimes fun and sometimes just crap.
